What Can You Expect When You Consider Open Mic? When Open Mic Productions is considered for a job, whether it is a bar, club, or private event, we will always sit down with you to discuss your likes & dislikes. If you want all edited versions of songs played we can accommodate you. For us it’s always about making sure your clientele or guests are entertained. If they enjoy themselves they’ll be back. We use the OTS DJ music delivery system. All music is compressed and normalized so that every song is automatically at the same volume creating a uniform sound. After all if we're not helping you to make money there’s no need to have us! Volume is always a concern, don’t ever hesitate to ask us to turn it down. If you can’t have a conversation with friends or if the bartender can’t hear a drink order we’re not helping you. We understand how the bar business works if we didn’t there’s no way we’d have our current clientele as well as the longevity we’ve experienced at many of our venues. Lastly it doesn’t always work everywhere. We know that at some venues a DJ is just not the right fit. As long as you give a 7-10 day notice for bars & clubs we’ll accommodate you. Most private parties require a contract with terms included within those contracts. The Open Mic Production's Philosophy of DJ'ing Open Mic Productions approaches the disc jockey business from a different perspective. If you’re not happy, we’re not happy. From the beginning we have been largely built on word of mouth. As we grow, we continue to operate on the same grounds. A happy client will always help lead us to the next happy client. Our entertainment coordinators will sit down with you and discuss all the finer points of your event. From the amount of interaction you’d like us to have with the caterer or banquet hall to helping the photographer or videographer set the perfect pose or shot. Many disc jockey companies approach the business from a cookie cutter or one size or method fits all attitude. All of our hosts have spent years learning to read crowds in every situation imaginable. This prepares them for when a room rolls over which can happen in an instant. Every bride, groom, party, or event is different, so each event is tailored to fit the specific needs of each client. All shows come standard with top of the line Sure or Sennheiser Pro series cordless mics allowing us to be as close to the party as you want. After deciding which system is the correct one for your event, we’ll discuss lighting, special dances such as the first dance, wedding party dance, father-daughter, mother-son dance, the dollar dance, cha cha slide, electric slide, chicken dance, and yes even the Macarena. Many times there are songs you absolutely want played and there are those you are dead set against. With Open Mic Productions there is no “we don’t have that song”. With proper notice we will make sure you have the songs you want- period. Whatever the vision you have for your special day we are more than willing to help you achieve your goal. Whether it is a special event such as a wedding, a party or a bar or club environment, it’s important for the DJ to be able to turn the dance floor over. In other words, through carefully planned song selection the DJ can move people on and off the floor on command. In a bar or club environment this increases sales at the bar as well as tips for your bartenders & waitresses. At a special event turning over the floor increases the amount of participation of all present thereby enhancing the enjoyment of the overall crowd. What About Lighting Effects? Open Mic Production's lighting for events is second to none. Some DJ’s use cheap sound activated lighting. We do to. But we also have 4 Martin SCX 500 intelligent lights, programmed by a state of the art DMX lighting controller to sweep, pan, & tilt all night to keep the party hoppin’. We also have a custom made LED police light guaranteed to get your attention. We use haze machines rather than fog. Haze is much lighter, less noticeable and is just enough to set the lighting off.
